Senior Business Intelligence Analyst (It)

The Council's IT function plays a pivotal role in our organisation through its range of technology and services, supporting the delivery of the Council's services to the community. There is virtually nothing that happens in our organisation without some IT touch.
Partnering with key stakeholders to shape and influence how information can assist the Christchurch City Council to achieve its business objectives is the key role of Senior BI Analyst (IT).
Keeping up with the latest trends and technology in BI and Analytics, you will lead changes and improvements in BI with a focus on increasing knowledge and BI capability and empower the business with self-service reporting.
You will specify and apply appropriate statistical and mathematical techniques to analyse data and create information that supports decision making while also develop information visualisations for internal and external customers and support data collaboration, 'open data' and 'real-time' data.
Our landscape here includes MS Azure, data lake and data bricks with PowerBI, as well as SAP BW4HANA, SQL EDW, SSIS. This is a key technical role for us so while you will have the specific quals and experience relating to this type of role, you will also have the:
communication and interpersonal skills to connect with the customer and promote self-service analytics and to guide and coach others
business experience to understand what the customer is trying to achieve
analytical skills to process technical business data
presentation skills to deliver best practice visualisation solutions
experience to input into strategically into the development of BI, the information strategy and information architecture
