Senior Advisor - Marketing And Engagement

We have a fantastic opportunity for a community focused, team player to work across Council to develop and implement effective ways we can interact and engage with the Manawatu District community.
As the Senior Advisor in our community engagement area, you will be an experienced community engagement professional and a skilled communicator.
You will need to be both self-motivated and a team player, able to work constructively with staff, councillors, community and key stakeholders. Your work will be varied, drawing on a wide range of skills and experience, including marketing and promotions. While the organisation has specific engagement and marketing needs, there is room to make the role your own. You will be trained to be part of our emergency response team.
Skills and experience we are looking for include:
Strong experience advising on stakeholder, community and customer engagement at a senior level
Confidence to positively challenge established ways of doing things by sharing resourceful ideas and solutions
Experience in a working environment that must balance a wide variety of stakeholder demands
Demonstrable success in planning and implementing creative community engagement initiatives
Demonstrable success in planning and implementing marketing campaigns that deliver the desired result
Experience in or knowledge of the local government sector including a demonstrated understanding of the need for, and ability to exercise discretion, good judgment and political sensitivity within the unique local government environment
Excellent communication skills including effective report writing and verbal presentation skills
The ability to undertake analysis, prepare reports and present at Council and community meetings
Experience of undertaking marketing and community engagement activities in a public sector environment
