Senior Advisor, Knowledge Management (Full time) Wellington

As an independent Officer of Parliament, we help the New Zealand public in their dealings with public sector agencies. We handle complaints, carry out investigations, protect the rights of people in detention, provide advice and training to agencies and strive to build awareness of what we do and how we do it. We have seen considerable growth in the activities and functions we deliver, and there is a lot more to come as part of an ambitious vision for the future. From a knowledge management perspective, the work we do is different, complex and demanding. It can be highly sensitive for political privacy or national security reasons, and includes reviewing the security and intelligence agencies involved in sending, receiving and handling national/international classified information.

We are seeking an enthusiastic person who can provide expert specialist advice, thought-leadership and stakeholder engagement to enable the achievement of The Office of the Ombudsman strategic objectives. We are establishing a new team of specialists who will play a pivotal role in building capability, as well as, driving and enabling information and knowledge sharing.

What we are looking for:

A post-graduate qualification specialising in knowledge management related field and/or equivalent work experience;
Significant experience in an knowledge management practitioner role, assisting with the development of knowledge management tools and supporting policies and procedures, as well as focusing on the delivery of knowledge management operations and services, preferably within a legal environment;
Experience and a proven track record of providing advice and expertise, and leading the design and delivery of a wide range of knowledge management solutions, library and precedents systems;
Ability to apply principles of good knowledge management practices to complex operational and IT environments;
Experience finding innovative solutions to organisational knowledge management challenges;
Excellent knowledge of legislative and policy requirements that affect the knowledge management in the public sector, including copyright, privacy acts and orders, National Library, and the Public Records Act; Experience of working with sensitive and personal information and knowledge in an environment that requires high levels of confidentiality and security;
Strong written and oral communication skills;
Excellent interpersonal skills and experience of stakeholder management , particularly within a project environment, and;
The ability to multi-task effectively and prioritise work to meet deadlines.

Depending on skills and experience, the salary for this position will likely range between $92,882 and $139,324 gross p.a.

The successful appointee will have a legal entitlement to work in New Zealand and may be required to achieve and maintain a New Zealand government (NZSIS) security clearance.
