Salary from $80,000 - $100,000

We have two great opportunities for an Advisor and Senior Advisor to join the Hazardous Substances Team in our High Hazards, Energy and Public Safety Group based in Wellington.
A recently qualified graduate in chemistry, engineering or a related discipline would be ideally suited for the Advisor position. Someone with similar qualifications together with several years' relevant work experience would make an ideal candidate as a Senior Advisor.
The Hazardous Substances Team undertakes registration, approvals and certification activities across a range of specialist areas. As an Advisor or Senior Advisor you will work across a variety of our work programmes, some of which you will lead as the subject matter expert, and others you'll contribute to.
As a valuable team member, you will be involved in:
Leading the delivery of programmes that contribute to a strong and effective compliance certification regime
Processing applications from industry to assist their regulatory compliance, including hazardous substance control applications and exemptions
Engaging with external parties and building effective relationships with industry and other regulatory agencies
Supporting WorkSafe's auditing and investigation functions, and
Coaching and mentoring other team members to deliver our overall work programmes.

To be successful in the role you will need a technical or science based qualification, either at degree level or with relevant industry/regulatory experience. Ideally, you will also have a general understanding of health and safety legislation and how hazardous substances are regulated.
You'll also:
Openly share your technical knowledge and experience with the team and make a positive difference to reduce harm from chemical exposure in the workplace
Bring energy, drive and initiative to the role
Be able to work independently whilst being part of a successful team
Display sound judgement
Have the ability to think outside the square with a solutions focussed mindset.
