A school in East Lancashire are seeking a Teaching Assistant to support the needs of students aged 4-11 with varying SEN.
The schoolprovides a specialist learning environment for pupils with a wide range of learning difficulties including moderate and severe learning difficulties, complex needs and autism and many have co-existing conditions including ADHD, sensory processing disorder, learning disabilities, epilepsy and learning difficulties. You must be confident and capable of supporting pupils who have problems with communication, toileting, eating or have sensory difficulties. You must be resilient and have the ability to work proactively with challenging behaviour.
Class sizes are small and there will usually be a Teacher, HLTA and other Teaching Assistants in the classroom, however, you will be expected to use your own initiative and work proactively.
You must have experience in supporting children / adults with SEN or have a close personal connection. Candidates with Team Teach or experience in PECS and / or Makaton are highly sought after.
