Respite Youth Camp Worker

At Mana People we are proud to be partnering with the YMCA to help them find compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as casual Respite Youth Camp Workers based 40 minutes out of Whanganui.
Mo Te Turanga | About the Role? In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of rangatahi (youth) by providing support and creating a safe, fun, and memorable environment during a respite camp.
Key Responsibilities: Supervise and engage with rangatahi during various camp activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. Collaborate with fellow staff members to facilitate engaging and inclusive camp programs. Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating respect, empathy, and encouragement to camp participants. Foster a supportive and nurturing atmosphere where Rangatahi feel valued and empowered. Respond promptly and appropriately to any emergencies or behavioural concerns that may arise. Communicate effectively with camp leadership and fellow staff members to ensure the smooth operation of the camp. Mou | About You Previous experience working with youth, particularly in a camp or respite care setting, is preferred but not required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with and relate to rangatahi from diverse backgrounds. Compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of young people. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and adapt to changing situations. Current First Aid certification is desirable. Additional Information: On-site accommodation and meals are available for staff.
