We are looking for suitably qualified and/or experienced Youth Workers to provide casual relief support which sometimes is requested at short notice.
Day shift hours are 6.30am to 3pm OR 2.00pm to 10.30pm and for Night shifts 10.30pm – 6.30am.
The role maintains responsibility on a casual basis for the care of youth in a Barnardos residential home (Te Poutama Arahi Rangatahi) within the framework of the policies and practices of Barnardos, key agencies Oranga Tamariki and Community Based Treatment providers to achieve the best possible outcomes by providing a safe and nurturing environment for youth to grow and develop while in a residential facility.
Duties
Care for youth by assisting them to engage in therapeutic interventions
Support youth make positive changes in their lives through education, treatment and residential care
Support programmed activities for youth that enhance physical, social, emotional and intellectual development while in residential care
Administrative tasks including (???? Ask Debbie) for night shift workers
Skills and experience key to this role are:
Previous experience working with young people is preferred
Be currently studying towards a formal qualification in human services or similar is desirable
A belief that young people deserve the opportunity to grow and learn
Professional integrity, resilience and dedication
A current full clean NZ Driver’s licence is required
Some of the work can be quite challenging so you will need to have resilience and passion for working with youth, be a flexible person with a positive attitude and exhibit the ability to build strong professional relationships with young people, whanau/ families, staff and service providers.
On day shifts you will be working alongside of passionate Residential, Clinical, Education and Administrative team members. The night shift consists of two people working together to ensure security is maintained and various administrative and housekeeping tasks are completed.
