Do you want to be a part of a science team answering the tough questions in environmental management?
We are seeking a Research Associate for Wetland Ecology on a permanent basis to work alongside a team of scientists and other research associates.The roleHorizons Regional Council are undertaking a program of work to identify and map natural inland wetlands.
In this full time, permanent role you will be working to help achieve this goal in the Manawatu-Whanganui region.
This work will involve GIS-based desktop mapping and field visits to perform wetland assessments.
Additionally, you will work with members of the science team to support other Ecology work programs and good data management practices.We are currently seeking a Research Associate for Wetland Ecology to work alongside a team of scientists and research associates to map natural inland wetlands in our region.
Based in Palmerston North, this position is a mixture of office and field based work.About youSuitable candidates should have a passion for the natural environment, particularly ecology, and would ideally hold or be working towards a post-graduate qualification, Bachelor of Science or similar degree in a relevant natural science.
Knowledge of wetland ecology, terrestrial ecology and environmental management is preferred, as is an ability to confidently communicate scientific information to the public.
Skills and experience in GIS mapping are preferred, but not essential, as we will provide training for the right candidates.
Successful candidates will require a full driver's license.
