About the team
Our Forensic Service has newly created registered nursing roles as part of a planned increase in bed numbers. Ward 9A at Wakari Hospital is a 13- bed medium secure unit, it is the inpatient unit for Otago and Southland for those persons who are in the Justice system and require assessment, treatment and rehabilitation. A full complement of a multidisciplinary team delivers a range of therapeutic services and programmes in this setting. Ward 9A has a strong emphasis on linking people with families/ whanau and support persons and reintegration into the wider community.
About the role / about you
In these positions based at Wakari Hospital, you'll be working in a secure environment predominantly with patients referred from the courts and/or prison setting for assessment and/or treatment. Increasingly we provide a rehabilitative role in assisting patients with complex needs to reintegrate into the community. Every day you get to work with and alongside a dynamic and committed multidisciplinary team. Our aim is to provide a safe environment and to plan care that meets individual needs. This includes maintaining links with family and friends whose on-going support and input is often of vital importance to the provision of care.
Enquire further, if you are a New Zealand Registered Nurse or able to gain registration, have a current APC with a scope that allows you to work in mental health and mental health sector experience.
