(Scope of Practice – Registered Nurse) Ward 27, Surgical Services have a permanent, part-time position available (32 hours a week), working rostered, rotating shifts. We are looking for registered nurses who work quick, think fast and who meet the following criteria. Essential:
Two years experience as a New Zealand registered nurse or Nursing Council equivalent registered nurse in an acute secondary care facility, ideally with surgical ward or other acute experience eg Operating Theatre/Emergency/ICU. OR Three year’s post registration experience in an equivalent secondary care facility outside New Zealand AND completion of the CAP training. Surgical Services inpatient wards provide acute/elective services for patients of varying ages and a variety of surgical conditions. The roles are challenging, varied and offer an opportunity to join an enthusiastic, progressive nursing team who pride themselves on providing quality nursing care to patients/families.
MidCentral District Health Board is committed to ensuring that children and young people are safe from abuse and harm. As part of our commitment to children and young people, and in line with the Vulnerable Children Act 2014, appointment to positions that involve regular or overnight contact with children will include worker safety checks. General Information
MidCentral District Health Board employs more than 2500 staff at Manawatu, Palmerston North, Tararua and Horowhenua and Otaki districts.
Palmerston North Hospital is a 350 bed secondary hospital, which services an urban population of 80,000 and a total population catchment of 168,000. In addition, the hospital is a teaching hospital, and is associated with both Auckland and Otago medical schools.

Palmerston North is a major university city and is at the hub of key routes to the central North Island ski fields, and river adventures. Wellington the capital city, is only a two hour journey by road, as are the wine growing regions of Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa.
