Our Surgical Ward at Southland Hospital is looking for experienced Registered Nurse with a “can do”, positive attitude to join their multidisciplinary team on a permanent part time basis. Our team is focused on patient centred care, so your kind nature and ability to adapt to rapidly changing clinical situations will ensure the patient journey is a smooth one. Recent surgical nursing experience and sound clinical skills are essential
About the Role
You will be responsible for providing a high standard of nursing care to all patients on the surgical ward, using knowledge based practise and a holistic nursing approach. Integral to these roles is the ability to initiate and accept responsibility and work autonomously when appropriate or necessary.
You’ll find yourself part of a friendly and professional team working in a modern hospital with first rate facilities on top of this you will have access to ongoing professional development and given the wide geographical area the hospital covers, there will be many opportunities for variety in your work.

About you
The successful applicant will need to have current surgical nursing experience, be able to demonstrate resilience, won’t mind putting in some hard work and be open and willing to up-skill as required. Of course you’ll also be a confident communicator with a friendly demeanour and someone who values patient centred care. In return you’ll gain great work experience in a multidisciplinary team and the opportunity to either showcase or develop your skills in a variety of surgical specialties.
Current registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council and a current APC, with the right to work in New Zealand
Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals
Excellent time management, interpersonal and organisational skills
The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused
Previous Surgical experience is essential
