About the team
The Intellectual Disability Service (IDS) is part of the Specialist Mental Health Services based at Wakari Hospital, high above Dunedin with stunning views of the city and ocean. The IDS comprises of three parts, Ward 10a - a 12 bed inpatient service, Helensburgh Cottage - a four bed inpatient rehabilitation unit and the Community Liaison team. You will work alongside the multidisciplinary team comprising of Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Mental Health Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and Psychiatrists.
About you/about the role
We are looking for experienced Intellectual Disability, Mental Health or Comprehensive Registered Nurses to join our Community Liaison team, this is a supportive multidisciplinary team. You will be an enthusiastic Registered Nurse with a range of skills and the ability to work effectively with a large team to a high standard of practice. To be successful in this role you must be positive with exceptional communication skills, you will also have a passion for supporting people from admission to discharge.
You will be working alongside patients in a complex environment to meet their identified needs in a multi-disciplinary setting. The emphasis is on the delivery of safe client focused care in an ever changing dynamic setting.
The primary focus of the role is work alongside individuals with an ID whom are 'high and complex funded' to toward rehabilitation and successful transition in the community. You will work closely with the Charge Nurse Manager, Associate Charge Nurse and the Clinical Nurse Specialist along with the wider clinical team.

are currently Registered or can obtain registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council and have a current APC and hold a scope of practice that allows you to work in Mental Health or Intellectual Disabilities, more information can be found at http://www.nursingcouncil.org.nz/Nurses/Scopes-of-practice
have current eligibility (citizenship, residency or work visa) to live and work in New Zealand.
