Registered Nurse – Gastroenterology
Dunedin Hospital
Permanent appointment
Part time 1.0 FTE vacancy (40 hours per week)
Our Gastroenterology Service in Dunedin Hospital is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our friendly team on a full-time, permanent basis.
About the Service
The Gastroenterology Department provides endoscopy service and is home to the broader Gastroenterology team of consultants, specialist nurses for IBD and Hepatology, and the National Bowel Screening Program coordinators. Our close-knit team currently has 26 staff and we are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse who has an interest in the gastroenterology field and is attracted to learning technical skills for assisting with flexible endoscopic procedures.

About the Role – what’s in it for me?
The department offers you the prospect of working in a diagnostic outpatient service, and to be exposed to a different type of nursing practice. We would anticipate after a certain training period and competence assessment, the successful candidate would be able to participate in our after-hours acute service roster. There is also the opportunity to expand knowledge into areas like population bowel screening, inflammatory bowel disease and liver disease.
About You
We are looking for a nurse with previous endoscopy experience or recent acute medical experience of at least 12 months. You need to be friendly and calm, able to work independently and at the same time genuinely interested in the best outcome for both patient and team. Applicants with experience in the gastroenterology and/or flexible endoscopy field will be prioritised in the short-listing process.
To succeed in this role, you will need to have:
Current registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council and a current APC, with the right to work in New Zealand
Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals
Excellent time management, interpersonal and organisational skills
The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused
