Registered Nurse - District Nursing

Registered Nurse - District Nursing
Company:

Southern Dhb

Place:

Otago

Job Function:

HealthCare Provider

Details of the offer

Registered Nurse-District Nursing
Dunedin
Part time position (0.8FTE)
The Southern DHB has the largest regional coverage of all the New Zealand health boards, providing services to 350,000 people in diverse communities across a huge geographical area. We take pride in all the services we provide and our aim is to improve, promote and protect the health of our region. Our customers – patients, staff and communities - are at the forefront of everything we do.
The district nursing service provides comprehensive nursing care to the greater Dunedin area including Palmerston and Middlemarch. This includes specialist wound care (including ACC), intravenous medications administration, palliative care, catheter management and much more.
The service is closely linked to Dunedin hospital to help ensure patients are supported safely in the community after hospital discharge while also maintaining close liaison with local GP practices, Hospice and residential facilities. This is an opportunity for you to adapt and increase your clinical skills to become a ‘specialist generalist’. You will be out and about working in different places and each hour is varied from the next. You’ll be responsible for planning and implementing care to a diverse range of patients in the community, while also supervising enrolled nurses and healthcare assistants.
You’ll be a passionate, committed and enthusiastic nurse who has a positive attitude. This is the perfect opportunity for those of you who have broad experience from a surgical and medical or community setting, and of course you’ll love to work autonomously within the community.
If you think working in the community is where you want your career to go and you currently don’t have specific community experience, we’d still like to hear from you.
A full clean driver licence is essential for this role.
Closing Date: Sunday, 8 March 2020
