About the opportunity
This role is based at CYF Puketai Care and Protection facility. Reporting and working from main office at Southern DHB Wakari as required:
Strengths based approach to Child and Adolescent Health assessments
Knowledge and experience in youth diversity and sexual health
Ability to work in multi-disciplinary team towards best outcomes for the young person with complex needs
Coordinated care and ability to liaise and communicate with community agencies
We are looking for a nurse who shares the value of kindness and manaakitanga and has a passion for youth who require additional support. It is an advantage but not essential to be trauma informed, understand attachment theory, child/ youth development, brain development and or mental health experience (sensory modulation).
About you
You'll be a New Zealand Registered Nurse with experience and knowledge in the areas of child and family health nursing, with a particular interest in youth health. This role has the attractive component of working in the local care and protection residence (Puketai), identifying and addressing issues in partnership with the permanent staff several times a week with a focus on the resident's needs.
You'll be open minded, quality driven, and have the ability to work both independently while working within a multi-disciplinary team. It goes without saying that you will be computer literate, and have a full clean driver's licence.
Experience and understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi/Maori health disparities are essential, as will be your highly developed communication skills with the ability and passion to work with a diverse range of young people and their families.
