About the opportunity | Te whiwhinga mahi Based at our Te Rapa site and reporting to the Laboratory Operations General Manager, the main focus of this role is to effectively lead the Te Rapa Laboratory teams so that Technical, Quality and Service requirements are met.
Other key responsibilities include: Provide leadership to Te Rapa Laboratory, building relationships with Manufacturing, Dairy Workers Union, Technical, Food Safety and Quality, Product Resolution, Laboratory Technicians, and the Laboratory teams as a whole.
Build a positive culture in the teams engendering a good work ethic and dedication towards the teams, and Fonterra's wider goals.
Provide leadership of business plans and business goals in line with strategic vision and future team goals.
Encourage innovation and ideas from all areas of the laboratory teams.
Ensure accreditation is maintained for the Laboratories you will be responsible for.

You will have a natural ability to build high performing teams and influence diverse groups of stakeholders, you will build and strengthen key relationships across the business.
Other desired experience includes: Strong background in leadership and change management.
Previous experience of staff management and engagement.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to build a strong and engaged team.
Capable to delegate and mentor others in advancing their own roles.
An understanding of the technical aspect of laboratory work and previous laboratory management would be an advantage.
