What you will do You will support the delivery of best practice accounting across the NZDF. You'll be responsible for the maintenance of effective systems to meet NZDF's transactional accounting responsibilities, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations, journal processing, internal control and monitoring, management of credit cards, and provides advice and information to all customers in respect of accounting transactions and processes. The Team Leader will have ownership of reconciliation processes across NZDF, and will be responsible for compliance, accuracy and timeliness of all reconciliations. What we need An experienced Team Leader with the ability to develop and mentor others. Experience in accounting/finance within a large organisation. We're looking for your:

Knowledge of NZ Public Sector financial management practices;
Knowledge and understanding of the preparation of Bank and Balance Sheet Reconciliations;
Understanding of credit card management and journal processes;
Financial analysis skills;
High level of computer literacy with spreadsheets and data management software;
Experience with a major ERP package such as SAP or Oracle;
Effective leadership and communication skills.

A qualification in accounting, finance or relevant experience will complement your application, and ideally you will hold ICANZ (CA) membership. DCS works with other Defence entities to deliver procurement services to NZDF and to become the NZDF's Commercial Centre of Excellence. The Business Services Group within DCS is responsible for the effective management of corporate purchasing, accounts payable, and treasury payment functions (PTP) as well as transactional accounting and compliance (including fixed assets, payroll accounting, accounts receivable, balance sheet reconciliations, and tax compliance activities).
