Te Kaunihera aa Takiwaa o Waikato (Waikato District Council) serves the Waikato District which covers more than 400,000 hectares (418.893ha). The district is rich in natural resources, wilderness reserves, natural resources, native bush reserves, lush farmland and stunning west coast beaches.

About this role:

A exciting new opportunity to join our Rates team has come about and we are excited to offer you the chance to be part of not only this great team working across our district, but also a great organisation. This critical role will be responsible for all rates related processes, maintaining the quality of the database for all rates related information and answering requests for information from ratepayers and internal stakeholders. Essentially, you will be a subject matter expert on rates in the Waikato district.

What I do?

In this role, you'll be responsible for delivering outstanding customer service to both ratepayers and internal teams by providing timely, accurate information. You'll ensure the integrity of data within the Property & Rating and Valor databases to support the effective and compliant collection of Rates revenue. You'll work closely with our valuation service provider and various Council business units to ensure property valuations and ratings are current and reflect the services received. Additionally, you'll take initiative in your own professional growth by seeking out development opportunities and staying up to date with legislative changes and statutory rating requirements.

What I bring?

Ideally you'll have at two years of experience in financial or database administration, supported by a minimum of NCEA Level 3 or equivalent qualifications. You will have an intermediate-level proficiency in Microsoft Office and be confident in using Technology One or similar systems. With a strong focus on continuous improvement, you will actively seek opportunities to enhance operational efficiency.

We are looking for a team player with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. An understanding of, or a desire to learn about, te ao Maori and tikanga is important. We also value those who have knowledge of, or are willing to gain an appreciation for, te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Ture Whaimana.

Hours of work: 40 Hours per week
