Whanganui Operations Team seeks a dynamic individual who is committed to building and maintaining relationships between the Department and iwi. You will possess the ability to work in a diverse and challenging environment. This 2 and a half year fixed term role is to establish and maintain mana-enhancing partnerships with Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi whanau, hapu and iwi and provide advice and support to ensure the Department of Conservation delivers on their treaty settlement statutory obligations and to give effect to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.
You will be working to foster a positive, collaborative and enduring relationship to achieve conservation policies, actions and outcomes sought by both the Governance Entities and the Department.
This will be a position for which patience, flexibility, collaboration and initiative will be essential qualities.
We are keen to hear from you if you have:
Experience in engaging with iwi and tangata whenua to achieve work goals aligned with the Principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
Good knowledge of tikanga Maori, kaitiakitanga, wairuatanga, manaakitanga and iwitanga
Strong relationship building skills, values the importance of relationships
A drive for achieving results through collaboration and coordination
Excellent leadership and people skills
The successful candidate will be comfortable engaging and working in partnership with whanau, hapu, iwi and Post-Settlement Governance Entities, will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the implications of the Treaty on today's society and conservation. A current driver's licence and some out-of-hours work are required.
Formal interviews for this position will take place in Whanganui on Friday 17th July.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
