Based in the small town of Renwick (12km from Blenheim) you will support the South Marlborough District Team and the Northern South Island Regional Community Team in the delivery of statutory work (permissions, planning, land management), community engagement and education. You will also work closely with iwi, local community groups and businesses.

Provide support to the Molesworth Steering Committee
Manage local relationships with permit holders
Support and work directly with local conservation groups
Support compliance action around unauthorised activities on public conservation land
Assist with planning and organising community conservation events, such as Conservation Week
Recruit and manage volunteers where required, particularly for summer camp host programmes
Collaborate with colleagues and other agencies across district boundaries on statutory and other work
This is a part-time (0.8 FTE) 32 hour per week position which can be worked over 4 or 5 days per week. Occasional weekend and evening work is required.

To be successful in this role you will ideally have:
A tertiary qualification in an environmental management/planning discipline, or equivalent experience in working with statutory authorities, community groups, iwi or business groups, which demonstrates an ability to think critically and remove complexity without losing context/content
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including a proven ability to write accurate, clear and concise reports
Demonstrated competence working with a range of private and public entities including Councils, businesses and community groups
A ‘can do' attitude and proven excellent organisational skills, including the ability to balance competing demands, meet deadlines and have a problem-solving approach
Some experience in engaging and working in partnership with iwi and tangata whenua
A track record for working well both independently and as part of a team
A passion for protecting the environment and connecting others with conservation
A full New Zealand Drivers Licence
Nga ahuatanga kei a matou: What's in it for you?
The chance to be part of a committed and supportive team, working collaboratively to fulfil our role as a regulator, advocate and Treaty Partner.
We offer:
A range of flexible working options depending on the needs of the role and its work context
Respect, recognition and opportunities for personal growth
Excellent employee wellbeing initiatives including the Employee Assistance Programme and discounted insurance
Free accommodation in our huts and campsites as well as general travel and accommodation discounts
Job satisfaction from contributing to crucial and meaningful work
