ABI Rehabilitation is looking for Psychologists – registered, counselling, clinical and neuropsychologists – to join our community and intensive service teams based in the wider Auckland and Wellington regions. You would be joining a leading provider of brain injury rehabilitation in New Zealand; ABI is the only provider in Australasia to have attained CARF Accreditation, an international gold standard for person centred quality rehabilitation.
We have contracting, full-time and part-time positions available to support our community services (Northland, Auckland, Wellington and, Wairarapa) where we deliver high quality care for people under ACC concussion service, training for independence programme, psychological services, neuropsychological assessment and the behaviour support service. As part of these services, psychologists support our adult, young people and child clients to manage a range of issues like depression, anxiety, adjustment, trauma, cognitive impairment and to make positive behaviour change. We also have full-time and part-time positions available to support our multidisciplinary work in acute rehabilitation (intensive services – Auckland, Wellington). As part of this role, psychologists provide client and whanau centered rehabilitation goals, mental health assessments, neuropsychological assessments, behaviour support and training and support to staff.

While you will be able to work independently, you will be part of a collegial and supportive group of psychologists. You will also work alongside and in collaboration with highly skilled and professional groups of rehabilitation medical specialists, neuro-physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech-language therapists to enable our clients to achieve their goals and maximize function, participation and wellbeing. You will also have the opportunity to participate in ongoing training, and depending on the role may contribute to service planning and promotion, clinical research and deliver training to wider teams.
Successful applicants will have the relevant tertiary education in psychology and be registered with the New Zealand Psychologist Board as a “psychologist”, “counselling psychologist”, “clinical psychologist” and/or “neuropsychologist”. You will have an annual practicing certificate and professional body membership (NZ Psychological Society or NZ College of Clinical Psychologists). You should also have a minimum two years’ work experience and a special interest in working with clients with brain injury and their whanau. The ideal applicant would also have at least 2 years postgraduate work experience with clients with neurological disorders and have worked under the ACC contracts. However, for the right candidates, we could provide supervision and training to become an ACC Named Provider.
