Our Purpose

The Team
Why did you train as a Psychologist? Do you want to help children, adolescents and their family/whanau overcome mental health difficulties? Are you reliable, self-motivated and want to contribute to effective service delivery?
Child Adolescent and Family Services (CAFS) is a specialist mental health service for young people up to 18 years of age (older if still at High School) who present with moderate to severe mental health conditions. CAF is comprised of a triage and emergency service (CAF Access), outpatient teams (CAF North, South and Specialised) and an inpatient unit. CAF Access process all referrals, provide urgent assessment and brief interventions before referring on.
We have a full-time (40 hours per week) position for a NZ Registered Psychologist with a clear passion for young people and their families. The clinicians on the team have a range of skills and areas of clinical expertise and are committed and work hard for young people living in Canterbury. Some travel may be required for Outreach assessments.
We are looking for a psychologist who has an interest in emergency services and brief interventions as this positon will be primarily situated in the CAF Access service.
The Role:
In this role, you will be responsible for:
providing clinical assessment and brief interventions
developing and regularly review job plans with the Clinical Manager
providing appropriate education to clients and their family/whanau to improve health outcomes.

Your skills will include:
excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage a busy case load
the ability to build and nurture trusted relationships
the ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with young people, family/whanau, community and statutory organisations
NZ Registration with the Psychology Board along with a current Annual Practicing Certificate is essential
a post-graduate diploma in Clinical Psychology or Child and Family Psychology
experience in a mental health setting is highly desirable.
