We are charged with leading the education sector in ensuring that children and young people with additional learning needs are supported to achieve their full potential through education.Our Learning Support specialists work closely with families, whanau, caregivers, schools and early childhood educators in English and Maori medium settings and other agencies to help maximise learning outcomes and promote social inclusion.About this roleAs a Psychologist you will play a critical role in our region's Learning Support team by;Identifying patterns or contributing factors that may be influencing learning, wellbeing and behaviourEnhancing inclusive practices in early learning services, schools and other educational settingsProviding professional support and guidance to schools, teachers and families and building the capacity of those who are best placed to support the learning of children and young peopleProviding appropriate in-depth specialist assessment and analysis for evidenced informed interventionsWorking as part of a trans-disciplinary team where a child's needs are complexComplete transition plans and ‘risk assessments' for students transitioning out of the Intensive Wraparound Service and the Residential Special Schools on the student's needs assessmentThis position will be to transition excluded children into full time education and to work closely with Westbridge residential school staff to design a single intensive plan for students to return to their local schoolThis position will collate all data and information on excluded students in the Auckland area, review, and update and maintain all internal processes. To use this data to transition students back into schoolsProvide objective consultative analysis, advice and information on project requirementsDevelop, or assist to develop, plan and implement in-service training modules for teachers, teach aides, school management teams, parents/caregivers and community groupsApply the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Disability Strategy, and other relevant government initiatives and strategies, in all aspects of service provision, and, where appropriate, participate effectively in their implementationAbout youTo be successful you will need;A Masters level tertiary qualification and a post-graduate Diploma in Educational Psychology or equivalentTo be registered under the Health Practitioners Competency Assurance Act and to hold a current practicing certificateAbility to translate specialist knowledge into practical informationAbility to co-ordinate service provision in a multi-agency, trans-disciplinary settingExcellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with children, young people and their families and teachers across a diverse range of settingsThe ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tirirti o Waitangi and tangatawhenuatangaA current full New Zealand Driving LicenseWhat can we offer you?We offer a competitive salary and terms and conditions.
