The Team
Do you like the challenge of working with children and adolescents and their family / whanau? Are you reliable, self-motivated and want to contribute to effective service delivery? The Child, Adolescent and Family Day Unit (Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health Service) is a specialist mental health service that provides assessment and treatment of children and young people up to 18 years of age (older if still at High School) who present with moderate to severe mental health problems, and their families.
We have a 0.8 FTE(32hr per week) permanent position within our Specialist Day Unit Team for a NZ Registered Psychologist with a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology or Child and Family Psychology and a clear passion for children, young people and their families.
The Child and Adolescent Day Unit works collaboratively with young people and their families that are requiring are more intensive approach than the community team are able to offer. The clinicians on the Team have a range of skills and areas of clinical expertise. The Role
In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
Providing comprehensive clinical assessment and formulation, psychometric testing and therapeutic interventions individually, in groups and with parents and families
Developing plans and regularly reviewing cases collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary clinical team and reviewing your role with the Clinical Manager

Your skills will include the following:
The ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with young people, family/whanau, the clinical team and community, education and statutory organisations is essential
A significant part of the work is with parents and families and experience or a strong interest in upskilling in this area will be favourable for example family therapy or specific parenting training
NZ Registered Psychologist with a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology or Child and Family Psychology is essential
Experience in a mental health setting is highly desirable
