Property Graduate Opportunities
Designed for those early in their career, these roles offer mentoring and training from industry-leading professionals.
The positions are permanent and based in Auckland, Wellington, or Christchurch, starting February 2026.
Our Emerging Professionals Programme | Te Reanga Pito Mata spans 24 months, featuring three 8-month rotations within your chosen area of specialization.
It brings together top emerging talent from across Aotearoa with NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) staff.
Your work will contribute to improving the transport network and systems across Aotearoa.
This is a unique opportunity to explore new career paths within our organization and help deliver our customer promise — a land transport system connecting people, products, and places for a thriving Aotearoa.
Salary: $61,230, commensurate with skills and experience.
About the Role | Te Whiwhinga mahi
Property is a key enabler for transport projects.
We manage around 2,000 properties, including residential, lifestyle, rural, commercial, and forestry.
Over 700 are leased to third parties.
Properties are acquired and held for current or future transport initiatives.
The Transport Property team provides end-to-end property solutions to support regional project delivery, including property acquisition, management, disposal, and legalisation, aligned with our business objectives.
About You | Ko koe tenei
To succeed, you will need:

A bachelor's degree or higher in property or a related field, graduated within the last three years.
Strong personal and cultural values.
Ability to collaborate and engage with diverse groups.
A desire to learn and develop skills in property.
Natural curiosity about processes and improvements.
A proactive approach.
You should demonstrate knowledge of or willingness to learn about Te Ao Maori, tikanga, Te Reo Maori, and te Tiriti o Waitangi as they relate to the public sector.
