Transpower owns and operates New Zealand's National Grid, the high-voltage transmission network connecting generation sites with towns and cities across Aotearoa.
As leaders in the energy sector, we're driving the transformation required for a sustainable, net-zero carbon future.About The TeamOur Grid Delivery division is responsible for all work across New Zealand's transmission network, including projects and maintenance, in partnership with our service providers.
Delivering approximately $400M in capital projects and $100M in operational expenses annually, our Grid Works Delivery team ensures our asset management plan is executed effectively and aligns with strategic goals.The opportunityWhile Wellington is our preferred location, we're open to Auckland, Palmerston North, or Christchurch for the right candidate.
You'll join an experienced team of Investigation Project Managers who collaborate extensively across the business, engaging with areas such as Tactical Engineering, Asset Planning, System Planning, and Customer and Commercial teams.In this role, you'll lead investigation projects by defining scope, coordinating inputs, and developing business cases that set projects up for successful delivery.
These projects span various scales, from $250k to $100m+, and include initiatives such as:Substation upgrades and strategic line replacementsNew grid connections for renewable energy sources and electrification projectsResilience-driven programmes, such as seismic upgrades and flood mitigationYou'll also contribute to enabling key internal strategies, such as Net Zero Grid Pathways, while supporting external customers in achieving their electrification goals.This role offers the opportunity to engage with diverse stakeholders, tackle complex challenges, and contribute directly to New Zealand's energy future.About YouYou're ability to thrive in a collaborative environment, building strong relationships and delivering results through teamwork, is second to none.
With a focus on customer needs, you manage complexity with a clear, solution-oriented mindset.Your background will demonstrate:Project Management Expertise: At least five years managing successful projects, ideally in critical infrastructure or energy, supported by project management qualifications or a commitment to obtaining themTechnical Understanding: Familiarity with engineering or infrastructure project lifecycles and experience developing complex business casesStakeholder Engagement: A proven ability to navigate expectations, ask insightful questions, and build trust with diverse stakeholdersResilience Project Experience: Knowledge of resilience-focused work programmes such as seismic retrofitting or environmental mitigationsCommunication Skills: Exceptional oral and written communication, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and conciselyJoin us at TranspowerAotearoa is powered by the people who work here.
