Pivotal role in helping to deliver transformational projectsForward-thinking, inclusive team environmentExcellent benefits including wellbeing perks and flexible work optionsAbout the RoleAs a Project Manager in our City Delivery Team, you'll play a pivotal role in leading complex, high-impact infrastructure projects that support the transformation of Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai - Lower Hutt.
You'll work across multiple disciplines and with a diverse range of stakeholders to ensure delivery aligns with council goals, community needs, and our shared environmental values.
Key responsibilities include:Developing and implementing detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, risk management, and resource allocation.Coordinating with internal teams, contractors, consultants, and partners to ensure aligned, timely, and quality project delivery.Monitoring project progress, managing risks, and implementing contingency plans to achieve successful outcomes.Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, standards, codes, and health & safety protocols.
Preparing reports and presenting project updates to internal governance groups, councillors, and external partners.Supporting a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation cross council teams and delivery partners.About YouThe ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in project management with experience in large infrastructure projects, large-scale housing, regeneration projects, or other major government capital projects.
You will also have:Well-developed relationship management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.Experience using project management tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera.A bachelor's degree in project management, construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field.Proven ability to develop and manage project plans within budget and timelines.Demonstrated ability to lead technical conversations across design, planning, construction, and maintenance.Confidence in presenting to senior governance groups, councils, and project boards.About UsAt Hutt City Council our vision is to build a connected, resilient and inclusive city where all our people thrive.
