We are looking for a passionate Programme Manager to join our Regulation Policy team for a 18 month fixed term contract, with with a potential further extension pending whether or not the programme requires it.
The Ministry of Transport is responsible for stewardship of the transport regulatory system across land, air, and sea. This complex and multi-layered system covers over 20 Acts and a wide range of Regulations and Rules.
To help meet this challenge, the Ministry has established the Regulatory Policy team in its Regulatory & Data Group. The Regulatory Policy team works closely with the transport Crown agents, participants in the transport system and other teams in the Ministry to deliver a busy work programme of major and minor system changes.
About the role
You will be at the forefront of the design and management of the programme, coordinating inputs across a range of teams within the Ministry and our transport regulators.
As the Programme Manager you will lead the design and delivery of the transport regulatory work programme, comprising projects focused on the maintenance and renewal of the system to ensure it is up to date and fit for purpose. Including, and in relation to the roll-out of new technologies (such as electric vehicles, autonomous vehicles, and unmanned aircraft), and supporting new approaches to reduce the road toll and greenhouse gas emissions.
What you'll bring
We are looking for a tertiary qualified, experienced Programme Manager, with a track record of getting things done. You will need a solid understanding of the machinery of government and sound experience applying project management disciplines in busy team, preferably in a policy or legal context. The role has a broad focus and the successful candidate will need to be able to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Along with your demonstrative organisational and planning abilities you will have excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality. You will be skilled in reporting writing, analytical thinking and have the ability to coordinate with stakeholders at all levels in the Ministry.
An understanding of land transport and/or local government legislative frameworks would also be an advantage along with the ability to transfer project disciplines to other team members.

The Salary range for this role is $93,956 - $130,000 depending on experience.
