About the Role
This role is part of the Research & Development Group, a bunch of highly motivated, high performing, passionate individuals who start conversations with "Why don't we try this?" or "How do we make this better?"
We have a strong team culture based on reasonably tasteful humour, light-hearted competitiveness and offer a relaxed and flexible working environment.
This position is responsible for creating opportunities for the world's leading dairy farmers through technically sound and innovative research. Your key tasks will include:
Being responsible for the delivery of the overall programme of our MBIE funded Endeavour project
Championing best practice project management
Taking a lead role to develop specific science strategies, in particular in our Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning group, and continue to monitor advancements of these technologies and how they might be applied within the business.
Providing leadership oversight and coach, mentor and motivate project team members
Developing and managing collaborative relationships with key stakeholders
Managing and negotiating budgets

About You
Our work is continually evolving, so you will need to be someone who thrives on learning and development, problem solving and new experiences.
As a group, R&D has multiple work streams and large number of projects on the go. We love to work with colleagues who are curious, engaged and willing to share knowledge, ideas and experiences. You'll also need to demonstrate the following:
Scientific training in Science/Agriculture or related field (tertiary degree), or relevant work experience.
Extensive experience in project management, with a proven track record in leading the delivery of large, complex projects
Highly developed communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to translate science plans and outcomes in order to report to an external governance group.
Confidence in managing multi-year, multi-million dollars budgets and reporting these to key stakeholders.
Flexible attitude, open to change and able to cope in an ever-changing environment
The ability to develop a solid understanding of the NZ farming systems and how LIC's products and services support the ongoing improvement of the NZ dairy industry.
