About LINZ
At Land Information New Zealand (LINZ), our key role is to ensure New Zealanders have accurate information about where people and places are, that people have confidence in their property rights and that Crown property is well managed for future generations.
From the best way to develop farm land, build a new suburb, manage a high-country farm or navigate on land or at sea, our work and location information help people make better decisions and create economic, social, environmental and cultural value for New Zealand.
LINZ has initiated a long-term programme to modernising New Zealand's Land Information platform & services. To achieve this, we have designed a comprehensive work programme, which will be delivered in four tranches over five years, with work prioritised to provide benefits for customers and mitigate security concerns as quickly as possible.
About the Role
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to work with a small team in a wider ambitious programme to make a genuine difference across LINZ. This fantastic role will allow you to be involved in challenging and politically visible work that impacts positively on New Zealand's future.
We are looking for someone to lead a squad focused on migrating our core mission critical database to a new platform, solving challenges along the way. Our product owners are involved in all aspects of the design, creation, testing and maintenance of the revamped system and you will be owning the product vision, leading customer and stakeholder engagement and balancing product delivery with integrity in an agile DevOps environment. As a member of an Agile squad, you will own the backlog, participate in refinement, and develop and collectively evolve your product. You will work closely with a scrum master and the rest of your squad, including working with test automation from the outset.
Skills and Experience
Experience leading the migration and delivery of a mission critical database or similar solution
Proven experience in product ownership or other leadership roles
Ability to engage and lead at the customer and business interface
Ability to collaborate across multiple squads, more traditional teams and wider LINZ to coordinate dependencies and releases
Operational knowledge of agile project and development tools
Mentoring other team members and leading technical discussions as required
Understanding of how public cloud impacts development and deployment is an advantage
