Expenses has its own revenue stream which gives strong commercial goals, in addition to aiming for excellent customer satisfaction. It's an exciting product with significant opportunity for continued growth ahead, and alignment with another exciting strategic initiative over the next 6-18 months.
The team has re-established itself in our Auckland office after the product transitioned from San Fran last year. They are an enthusiastic and high performing team of web and mobile developers, quality engineers, designers, and product owners. They like googly eyes, team names related to fish, and cake.
Due to a secondment, we have an exciting opportunity for a Product Owner to join the team on a 12 month contract, to drive the analysis of customer problems and the solving of these - both for Xero product teams, and Xero customers.
What are we looking for in a Product Owner?
3+ years experience as a Product Owner in a software company
Excellent stakeholder management skills
Customer centric attitude
Inclusive attitude and agile mindset
Experience with cloud and/or SaaS products would also help
Ability to break down complex problems, deliver real-world business outcomes and handle changing priorities
Love of building beautiful, quality software, coupled with a knowledge of design thinking

What you’ll do?
Understanding customer problems; you will be the champion of the ‘what’ and the ‘why’ within our product teams
Own the delivery of the roadmap, product planning, and requirements for new features and improvements
Have a deep understanding of the demands for features and enhancements. This includes listening to and interacting with leadership teams, product managers, engineering, sales and marketing, other product teams and customers
Research and analyse how potential solutions and improvements should be delivered
Be able to prioritise the product backlog which includes feature requests, enhancements and bug fixes into an achievable backlog
Be a champion for the customer by collaborating with the design and engineering to develop user stories, wireframes, workflows and solutions that solve real problems for our customers
Work closely with the product manager and other product owners to ensure alignment with the portfolio and Xero strategy
Maintain strong communications with all teams at Xero
Contribute to cultivating a fun, creative and motivated culture that lives and breathes our Xero values.
