Due to the constantly changing product legislative environment, we are introducing a new role to support our Product Compliance Manager within the Merchandise and Supply Chain team. This is an important, administrative role, focused on ensuring we capture the necessary information to verify that our current and new products meet NZ legislative requirements. In this position you can have an influence over the safety of NZ consumers. Our mission is to ensure that the products we sell are safe for our customers and are treated appropriately in-store.
Reporting to the Product Compliance Manager you will help ensure we manage process and procedures to ensure our products are compliant, provide product compliance expertise to our product buyers, and maintain auditing processes required to manage product compliance.
You will enjoy researching product standards and regulations, and how they apply to the safety of current and new, innovative products.This will see you: Understanding the safety and compliance requirements related to current and new products, then executing as required; Ensuring safety data sheets are compliant and maintained for all chemical product; Working with internal stakeholders to ensure safety and compliance requirements of items such as labelling, packaging artwork and instruction booklets; Supporting audit process to verify suppliers’ production and quality processes regarding product compliance Interpreting the relevant legislation and practical application, and ensuring internal policy is changed or adapted as necessary; and Being a point of contact for Members, Support Centre and suppliers for compliance related issues.

For this position we seek someone with a strong understanding of compliance frameworks and their implementation, who can understand and spot discrepancies in technical information, and who possesses the ability to facilitate and engage across multiple stakeholders. You will be able to take technical information and translate it into layperson terms. Someone from a QA background with electrical product compliance knowledge would be ideal. Understanding of chemicals their hazards and how they should be stored would also be beneficial. Maybe you’re currently working in a QA lab, but would like to move into the “real world”, or you are a recent chemical or electrical engineering graduate.
