**The opportunity | Ko te aheinga** We seek a Principal/Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our high-performing team.
The ideal candidate will have experience across various project sizes, including low-rise to high-rise buildings, and be involved in diverse projects such as data centres, healthcare, laboratories, industrial, education, and infrastructure.
You will lead strategic direction for the Mechanical Team within the Buildings Group, support Project Engineers, and ensure technical excellence while managing quality, schedule, and budget.
You will represent the company externally, develop client relationships, and promote cultural values within the Mechanical Team and New Zealand Buildings Group.
The role requires multitasking across project delivery, business development, and team performance.
**Day-to-day tasks include:** Managing workloads within the Mechanical Section to meet financial targets and maintain morale.
Overseeing design processes aligned with project guidelines.
Mentoring team members and fostering professional development.
Acting as the primary contact for client relationships, understanding their needs, and providing strategic design solutions.
Designing, documenting, reviewing projects, liaising with clients and authorities, and conducting quality audits.
Contributing to engineering systems development and adhering to professional standards and ethics.

**Qualifications** **About you | E pa ana ki a koe** Experience in a consulting environment within the building services industry.
Knowledge of the NZ Building Code and relevant Australian and NZ standards.
Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with at least 12 years of relevant experience.
Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
Excellent communication skills.
Willingness to work towards Chartered Professional Engineer status (or equivalent) is favorable.
