These include roading, water services, parks and reserves, solid waste, emergency management, and the management of property holdings.The Asset Management Team is responsible for ensuring the success of Council's roading and transport activities across the district through their broad view and robust planning programmes.About the roleAs a senior member of the asset management team, you will use your road engineering expertise and asset management skills to drive continuous improvement in maintenance, operations, renewal, improvement, and vesting of council's transportation assets to ensure quality and efficiency.You will support the operational delivery team in managing the roading maintenance, operations and renewal contract; support capital works and development engineering teams in managing roading work done by third parties to ensure build quality, consistent data capture, and efficiency in delivery scheduling; and provide technical advice relating to planning, resource consents and land use activities in Selwyn.This role brings together the desires of the community, long-term management of infrastructure growth demands and operational challenges.
The principal asset engineer works closely with the transportation delivery teams and development engineering team to plan for and monitor progress across the Transportation Activity.About youTo be successful in this role you will need to have a passion for using your technical expertise, data, and evidence to drive continuous improvement in processes.
Our successful candidate will have the following:10+ years of work experience in roading asset management, asset information management, or construction/delivery supervisionTertiary training in road engineering or related fieldsA broad understanding of the principles of asset management, development of maintenance management plans and road maintenance contract managementAdvanced knowledge of RAMM suite of software, including the work management moduleA passion for data analysis and developing decision support toolsEffective communication skills, ability to coach and train othersSound commercial understanding and acumenProven ability to manage multifaceted NZTA/contractor/service provider/Council Teams relationships and develop effective working relationshipsWhat we can offerFor several years Selwyn has been experiencing rapid and sustained economic and population growth.
