Our culture is hands-on, safety focused and encourages continuous improvement.About the Role:Port Protection Officers are part of the Marine and Infrastructure Team reporting directly through to our Security Manager, based in Port Chalmers. We are looking for someone to join our Port Protection team on a permanent, full-time basis.As a Port Protection Officer, you are the first point of contact for all visitors to our Port, both land and waterside. They are responsible for providing various security, marine, customer services and safety duties associated with the day to day running of our Gatehouse.Some of the key tasks of the role include, but are not limited to:Maintaining security measures, and providing security response as requiredUndertaking regular safety and security inspections/audits of our Port facilitiesProviding gatehouse to gangway safety shuttle escorting servicesProviding customer service to visitors entering the PortSupporting Marine with duties such as harbour traffic control, ship movement scheduling, and liaising with shipping agents.Hours of work for the role is a 4 days/4 off/4 nights/4 off rolling shift pattern and operate across two 12-hour shifts: 6:30am to 6:30pm, and 6:30pm to 6:30am (an average of 42 hours per week).About You:Our successful candidate will have proven security and customer service experience, in addition to this, they will also be able to demonstrate the following:Have a strong commitment to Health & Safety – not afraid to speak up and act immediately if something is wrong!Exceptional communication skills and a willingness to collaborate with othersA demonstrated strong work ethic, availability, attendance, timekeeping skills, and a team playerExcellent computer literacy and demonstrated administrative skillsStrong interpersonal skills to work with varied stakeholders and maintain close working relationships.If you are successful, you will be required to:Obtain a Port Facilities Security Officer qualificationOperate Restricted RadarProvide emergency first aid care at medical incidentsWhy Port Otago?Competitive remuneration package on offer including 5 weeks annual leaveHealth insurance paid for you and your partner and dependent children (valued at approx $4,000pa)Superannuation matched up to 7% after 6 months serviceOpportunities for upskilling and career developmentContribution towards relocation costs up to $5k to DunedinHeads up:A full clean NZ Drivers licence is required.You must be able to pass Ministry of Justice, ACC checks and a medical which includes a drug and alcohol test as part of our recruitment process.Weekly random drug and alcohol testingPlease apply online via our Port Otago Careers website to ensure our Port Otago Application Form is completed.Applications close Sunday 24th March at 5pm.
