Plastics Technician Apprentice Die Setter (Blowmould)Full-timeOur Pact Packaging division is pioneering a whole of product life cycle approach to sustainable packaging.
Partnering with global brands to local dairy producers, we integrate supply chain efficiencies and sustainable practices into everything we design and manufacture.As an Apprentice Die Setter, you will work as part of a team to ensure all machines and ancillary equipment are set up and performing in a safe, efficient manner while achieving required quality standards and production outputs.
You will also assist with basic preventative maintenance and setter training for your designated area of responsibility.
Additionally, you will support process improvement projects as part of our continuous improvement plan.Your key responsibilities will be to:Assist in installing and setting up blowmould machines, including loading moulds, adjusting clamps, and ensuring proper alignment.Help configure machine parameters (temperature, pressure, cycle time) to meet product specifications.Monitor machine operation during production runs to identify and address issues such as defects, misalignment, or equipment malfunctions.Adjust machine settings (blowmould speed, pressure, temperature, cooling time) as needed to maintain product quality.Perform routine maintenance on blowmould machines and moulds, including cleaning and lubrication.Inspect finished products for quality and conformity to specifications.Maintain records of machine settings, adjustments, and production data, and report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.Your skills and experienceTo be successful in this role, you'll have:Safety as your number 1 priority.Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn and develop skills in setting manufacturing machinery.Basic knowledge of blowmoulding machines, moulds, and related equipment is an advantage but not essential.Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality products.Strong communication skills to coordinate with production teams and engineers.Adherence to safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.Benefits:We will support you with an NZQA apprenticeship through Competenz.Benefit from a clear, structured training program that outlines your learning and skill development.Receive guidance and support from experienced mentors throughout your apprenticeship.Explore potential career paths and progression opportunities within our company after completing your apprenticeship.Gain valuable practical, hands-on experience that will enhance your skills and knowledge.Work in a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages learning and development.Work Schedule:Days of work required: Monday to Friday: 40 hours per week – (8-hour shift) Day shift.Hourly rate – dependent on experience.
