We’re looking for empowered and passionate volunteers to work with us on our Plastic Ocean Pollution Solutions Program in Canterbury. The program delivers educational workshops and presentations as well as engaging in citizen science based research and community clean ups! We work with a range of groups from individuals and schools to industry, because we’re all a part of the solution!
The volunteers would be expected to commit to 5hrs a month on a casual and flexible schedule assist with a variety of elements of the program!
You don’t have to be equipped for all! Below is a list of possible skills that would be a valuable contribution to the program. Up-coming events: In-school Workshops: we have an up-coming project delivering in-school workshops to 16 primary & intermediate schools throughout Canterbury, the volunteer would accompany our educator to assist in the delivery of these programs. Expenses covered and opportunity to train up for independent delivery. The Big Clean – Sustainable Coastlines hosted event in which we’ll be delivering the micro-plastics education and clean up component.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with world leaders on plastic ocean pollution in delivering solutions to our communities and youth, get amongst! Valuable Assets & Skill Sets: Experience in teaching and group management (not required to be qualified) Knowledge and Passion for plastic ocean pollution in particular micro-plastics or have a keenness and willingness to self inform Relatable and easy going personality willing and keen to engage others in conversation Environmentally aware, in particular of our local area Flexible to work with adaptive schedules during week days and weekends – specific to education workshops: available for hours throughout Terms 1 & 2 Creative and innovative approach to the issue A dedication to upskill and inform yourself on our work and philosophies Self-directed and reliable worker Expectations & Responsibilities: Independent form of transport *expenses reimbursed Good communication skills to liaise with schools/community groups and Programme Director Follow up admin for recording purposes and feedback sessions Responsibility of allocated equipment and resources
