Te wero – The Challenge
Growth is an emerging and important issue for the Far North, and we’re looking for someone to join the Strategy Team to help us manage the planning challenges that growth presents. We’re looking for someone who has a background in urban planning and the knowledge to provide advice from an urban design, place making and integrated planning perspective.
We’re looking for someone with an eye for detail, great communication skills and the ability to positively contribute to the team and the wider community. Specifically we are looking for someone who can;
Lead and contribute to the development and administration of concept, structure, town centre, community and reserve management plans
Support, provide input to, and where required lead Council strategies and policies such as the District Strategy and the 30 year infrastructure strategy
Undertake amenity and character assessments and develop incentives and controls that enhance the amenity and character of our unique communities and towns
Work with community (including iwi and hapu), business, industry and key stakeholders to develop and enhance the responsiveness and legibility of plans (and the places they relate to)
Provide high quality informative reports to elected members and the Strategic Leadership Team, drawing on monitoring and research developed as part of the role.

The ability to relate to a wide range of people both internally and externally
A high level of relationship development, management and customer facilitation skills, in turn establishing key strategic relationships
