Our Organisation Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua MidCentral (MidCentral) is part of Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand and provides healthcare services to over 180,000 people across the Manawatu, Horowhenua and Tararua regions.

With a large hospital campus in Palmerston North, it also provides key health care and support services to neighbouring communities.

The Opportunity MidCentral is looking for an experienced physiotherapist to work in the Older Person Assessment Liaison (OPAL) Unit. This position is permanent, full-time and will be based at the Palmerston North Hospital.

The OPAL Unit is an inpatient ward for older persons with frailty. Its purpose is to assess and treat issues that are causing frailty, to return people to their homes as soon as possible and put plans in place to continue their improvements in health once home.

In this role, you will be working in a transdisciplinary team consisting of geriatricians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers, NASC, nurses and allied health assistants. This unit will link with the OPAL community team.

We are looking for a physiotherapist who: Enjoys teamwork Has good time management Possesses leadership skills Is flexible and can adapt to change easily Is an excellent communicator, both written and oral Two years of experience is preferable but not essential. A current APC is however essential.
