WaikatoPharmacists - Waikato Hospital Closes 04 Aug 2019 Posted 13 Jul 2019
Waikato Hospital - Pharmacy Services

Permanent - Full time

Be part of something special - come and join our ever-expanding, dynamic, top quality team of clinical (ward/clinic) pharmacists!

About the service:

Pharmacy Services, based at Waikato hospital, provides service to Waikato Hospital, plus six smaller rural hospitals/care units spread across the Waikato region. Waikato Hospital is a tertiary level teaching hospital and our pharmacy service provides service to over 825 beds across the district, to one of the most diverse and geographically widespread regions in the country.

The team of approximately 80 staff is divided into five teams - two clinical, dispensary/supply (including compounding), quality use of medicines, and our community pharmacy service (Pharmacy on Meade). We are a close knit team, focused on helping patients through the provision of excellent pharmaceutical care, and we are passionate about constantly striving to improve the services we provide.

The Waikato region itself offers a unique variety of urban, coastal and rural lifestyle options all within easy access of the hospital, plus close proximity to national parks and the central mountain region for outdoor recreation. We have great city or rural living (without the traffic of other regions), a lower cost of living, and fantastic schooling.

About the role:

We are in need of four pharmacists to join our clinical services (ward & clinic) team of pharmacists based at Waikato Hospital.

We are seeking people with a passion for clinical pharmacy. Candidates will ideally have experience in hospital pharmacy (hospital intern pharmacist or greater), although other candidates may be considered. These positions are 40 hours per week (1 FTE), and will work over a Monday to Friday roster with occasional Saturday and Public holiday involvement. Inclusion in the on-call team is as required. Pharmacists wanting slightly reduced hours will also be considered. If you are hospital trained (intern or greater), we will also consider waiting for you to commence within 3-4 months, as the right person is worth waiting for!

Flexibility, excellent communication skills, experience working in teams or independently, and confidence in a multi-disciplinary setting are all desirable attributes. Support and training will be provided. Qualified NZ registered pharmacists or readily able to work in NZ should apply.

Your application:

Please apply directly online on the Waikato DHB website, and click here to review the position description. Applications are not able to be accepted via email. For any further queries about this role, please call Jan Goddard on 021 359 581 or Grant Macdonald on 021 243 5399.

Closing date: 4 August 2019
