HOSPITAL PHARMACIST, Full Time, Permanent
Hauora Tairawhiti, Gisborne
ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
Gisborne Hospital is the base hospital for the wide geographical area, Tairawhiti, extending up the East Cape of New Zealand. The region has a population of approximately 46,000 and is well known for its relaxed lifestyle and its beautiful rural and beach environments.
Recognised as an ideal place to raise a family, Gisborne is a relaxed city offering access to outstanding leisure pursuits and a caring, safe community. The city has superb outdoor facilities, golden beaches, a warm climate and a vibrant local economy based on wineries, agriculture and tourism. Local schools are excellent and real estate is affordably priced. We work with one of New Zealand's most culturally diverse populations - a strong cultural emphasis underpins all we do.
We're looking for a pharmacist who has the energy to make a positive difference with both patients and staff alike. In addition to enjoying a challenging case load and an exceptional quality of life, you can look forward to a culture where staff are valued and respected for their expertise.
ABOUT THE ROLE
At Gisborne Hospital our pharmacists are responsible for a range of operational and clinical pharmacy services including (but not limited to) in-patient dispensing, chemotherapy clinical review and dispensing, medication reconciliation, provision of medicines information to patients and staff, participation in multidisciplinary meetings and ward rounds, weekend and on-call roster as well as helping in the training and development of trainees and other staff.
Maintaining and improving our clinical pharmacy services will be a major focus and you get to be involved in change implementation because we want our department to grow with you. Effective communication skills will be needed to ensure that continued excellent services are provided to the local community and surrounding areas. You will learn about Maori culture and embrace the wonders of Te Reo which is spoken by many in our community.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work with the multidisciplinary team focusing on medication safety to implement the Health Quality & Safety Commission initiative. We will provide you with exciting work experience and offer you a platform to gain valuable clinical pharmacy knowledge. We are also very supportive of any further training or education you wish to pursue. We reward past experience, qualifications and skills and will offer remuneration accordingly.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor degree in Pharmacy recognised in New Zealand
New Zealand Registered pharmacist or eligible for registration with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand and hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate
Previous hospital pharmacy experience is desirable but not essential
