We have an exciting opportunity for a Pavements Project Engineer to join our successful team on the O Mahurangi Penlink Alliance. You'll have solid pavement experience (granular and pavement asphalts)

The Job
Reporting to the Zone Manager, this role focuses on the effective delivery of a large section of the project with responsibilities including:
* Developing advice including construction plans and documentation
* Overseeing and managing the onsite teams and sub-contractors within your zone and coordinating with the other Zone and Structures teams to ensure optimisation of resources and efficiency
* Planning the execution of the works and develop construction methodology for all elements of the works
* Developing and maintaining detailed short term programs and ensuring work is delivered to them
* Reporting progress and performance.
* Assisting the zone manager with monthly cost to completes, and providing an estimate of the work completed in terms of percentages complete to the planner
* Optimising the use of material, plant and labour
* Maintaining a safe and tidy site, assisting in the development of management systems and ensuring compliance within your team
* Undertaking regular inspections to ensure that safety, environmental, and quality standards are achieve across the project
* Leading and managing quality onsite, to ensure process control plans are in place prior and adhered to throughout construction.


What we need from you
This position requires the leadership, energy, construction knowledge and capability to be hands on in the project, providing coaching and mentoring to junior team members on various technical elements, ensuring that work is completed to deadline and a high quality.

You will have proven experience in working on construction projects and delivering work safely, on time and on budget. You will be familiar with NZS3910 and the Construction Contracts Act. You will have a strong history of successfully managing staff and subcontractors combined with a natural flair creating excellent working relationships within the office.

As a Project Engineer you will have:
* Proven experience managing programmes,
* Leadership qualities and be a role model for site rules, championing HSQE onsite and in the office.
* Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
* Financial focus towards project costs
* Proven ability in subcontractor management


You will need a minimum of 4-6 years' experience within the construction sector as an Engineer and have a BE, NZCE or a Diploma in Civil Engineering. Key to this role will be your commitment to achieve exceptional outcomes in delivery.
