We have world class manufacturing plants and storage facilities for bitumen, emulsions and polymer modified binders. Road Science has five IANZ-accredited civil engineering laboratories and a number of project specific mobile laboratories. We also provide expertise in pavement design, technical and consultancy services to our clients.A fantastic opportunity has come up in our Road Science team for a technically-sound individual who is looking to develop their skills in the ‘technical services’ space of the civil construction industry.Based at our Laboratory in Penrose, you will be reporting to the Laboratory Manager and operating some of our modern road testing vehicles, collecting data from the roads across NZ.About the roleYou will be primarily responsible for operating and maintaining the Road Science Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) and Hawkeye equipment. You will also be responsible to:Collect data including roughness, pavement deflections, LiDAR and video footageCollate, manipulate and deliver data collected from roads to the Asset Management teamMaintain the data collection systems and equipment according to the standardsLiaise with Traffic Management teams across NZ to setup sitesEnsure hazards and risks are identified and are reported accordinglyWhat’s in it for youYou will be working for one of the lead roading technology companies who use some of the most advanced technology in the civil roading industry. You will also have:Fundamental knowledge of roading construction and road engineering, including pavement designStrong general computer skillsDemonstrated autonomy in your previous roles and are able to think independently and troubleshoot issuesA clean Full Class 1 driver’s licenceAn STMS Level 1 (highly desirable)You’ll be part of a high performing team where there is always three to four months of work pre-booked in advance.
