Do you enjoy cooking and supporting older people? Abbeyfield is seeking a warm, caring, well-organised person to work as part time weekend housekeeper /cook for 12 older residents at our Abbeyfield House in Stoke, Nelson.

About us:
The focus of Abbeyfield is to maintain the independence and dignity of older people who are able to look after themselves but who no longer wish to live on their own. We provide affordable living, meals and general support to our 12 residents, but no nursing or personal care. Abbeyfield Nelson is a registered NZ charity.

Key duties
Preparation of midday dinner and evening tea for 12 residents
Domestic cleaning of the house common areas
7 hours per day, split shift
Record keeping

This role requires you to be able to work autonomously and your key duties will be the preparation and serving of nutritious meals, as well as maintaining a tidy kitchen/dining/living room to a high standard, basic record keeping and offering general support to residents if needed. Meals are included on the days you are working.
The perfect candidate will:
Be an experienced, confident and capable home-style cook.
Have some basic food safety /hygiene knowledge.
Be able to multi task, plan and time manage effectively.
Have compassion and patience, as well as the ability to relate to a broad cross section of older people.
Be reliable and dedicated to the role.
Have a sense of humour!
