Come join our friendly and supportive InPatient Dispensary (IPD) team at Middlemore Hospital.
The IPD team supply medicines to all areas of this busy teaching hospital and a number of offsite facilities included within CM health. As a dispensary pharmacist you will be exposed to medication charts from every speciality, allowing you to develop a great breadth of pharmaceutical knowledge. With the variety of incoming work, every day is different! Excellent problem solving skills, quick decision making, being efficient and flexible are essential. Daily duties include checking inpatient supplies, responding to ward queries and supporting the pharmacy technicians. Opportunities for additional responsibility in compounding, supply of high-risk oncology medicines and home IV antibiotics services will be available and in-house training will be provided.
The IPD team strive to provide and maintain an excellent level of service. CMH encourage innovation and the successful candidate must have a keen interest in quality improvement. Dispensary pharmacists are also expected to be pro-active in the review of departmental protocols and in training of other staff members such as clinical pharmacists undergoing their dispensary orientation.
Your professional development needs will be well supported through regular in-service educational sessions and a variety of other options such as external training courses or seminars and postgraduate education depending on the relevance to the role.
You must be a New Zealand Registered Pharmacist in order to be considered for this role. Previous hospital experience is preferred. There is excellent support from senior dispensary pharmacist, technician, Medicines Information and Clinical Pharmacy teams.

Essential:
Registered New Zealand Pharmacist
Previous Hospital Pharmacy experience (preferred) or experienced community pharmacist
Good understanding of therapeutics
Accurate and organised
First-rate oral and written communication skills
Good problem solving skills
Team player
Ability to prioritise and manage time efficiently
Comfortable working under pressure
Committed with a can-do attitude
Able to work flexible hours during weekdays and rostered weekends/public holidays
Full, clean driver's licence
