Addressing climate change, and meeting New Zealand's Paris Agreement commitments, will require our electricity system to begin planning and adapting for the future needs of our country, today.About the teamTranspower's largest division - Grid Delivery - ensures our grid assets i.e. towers, lines and substations that transmit high voltage electricity, continue to deliver electricity well to New Zealand, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.The Business Performance and Planning team supports Grid Delivery to improve performance and help drive a commercial focus via insights, KPI's and working collaboratively to optimise value from within and from commercial arrangements. The function also drives Grid Delivery's business improvement process and team to maximise value from Business Improvement projects.About the opportunitySupporting the Business Performance and Planning Manager, and working directly with Senior Leaders across Transpower, you'll manage and influence grid services contracts to extract maximum value, and work closely with key stakeholders to ensure continuous improvement processes are in place to support this.You'll do this by:Managing grid services contracts within an agreed framework including leading any in-term repricing;Drive improved performance and commercial effectiveness of contracts including management of variations and service changes, issues and claims resolution, performance monitoring and management;Work across functions to improve commercial awareness and support project managers and service delivery managers on commercial issues.You will also work closely with Procurement to ensure contract and performance management align with agreed procurement strategies and drive best practice. As this is a key role you will also be required to work closely with our Senior Managers including the GM of Grid Delivery and his leadership team.Externally, you will work with service providers.Having successfully held a Commercial Manager or Supplier Relationship Manager role, you'll be experienced in leading performance-based conversations and adept at dealing with commercial issues as they arise swiftly and respectfully. You'll also be an advocate for continuous improvement to ensure we remove waste from processes and put clear performance measures in place.To be considered, your previous experience, CV and cover letter will demonstrate:A degree or similar in either Finance, Commercial Law, Business Management or EngineeringExceptional commercial management skills including negotiating and influencingPractical working knowledge of New Zealand contract law and management practicesAbility to develop and maintain strong internal and external relationshipsSuccessfully managed large multi-dimensional contracts/relationshipsDemonstrated ability to manage and improve value through commercially contracted suppliersStrong experience in Project Management and use of current methodologiesPrevious experience mapping strategy to business outcomes and change initiatives to guide business decision-making on investment decisionsDemonstrated ability to analyse and interpret complex problems or processes, identify and understand requirements and develop alternativesWhile not essential, the following is desirable:A general understanding of the nature and design of the electricity industry's core business processesPreferably 5-10 years' experience in a similar roleQualification in Business Analysis such as IIBA Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP).Why TranspowerYou'll work alongside people who care deeply about what they do for Aotearoa.Transpower is as an equal opportunity employer and values the diversity of thought provided by our people from over 28 nationalities.
