individual with experience in operations strategy and planning to take up this dynamic permanent position.
In this role you will combine the complex work of relationship management and community engagement delivered by Community and Treaty Rangers, with the systematic world of operations planning. As the national network of Treaty and Community Planners is still being built, you will play a crucial role in developing the national standards for Treaty and Community planning practices.
The ideal applicant will have excellent interpersonal, communication, engagement and relationship management skills. Experience working with whanau, hapu & iwi and an understanding of te reo Maori is an advantage but is not essential. If you are; highly self-motivated, are an effective communicator, and can build strong relationships with your co-workers then we are keen to hear from you.
In this role you will:
Initiate regional strategic discussions and provide a framework to develop an engagement strategy for communities, and whanau/hapu/iwi.
Support the Lower North island Operations District teams to build their Treaty and Community yearly business plans.
Work with the Treaty/Community Rangers to schedule the Districts' Treaty/Community work on a monthly basis.
Ensure effective measurement of regional operational performance through thirdly reporting.
Build operational discipline and engagement capability in the Auckland region Operations teams.
Contribute to the continuing improvement of the national standards for Treaty/Community Planning.
The Appointee will join a team distributed throughout the Auckland Region, which includes; Biodiversity Planners, Recreation Planners, Asset Planners, and Work Officers. As part of a tight Planning team, the appointee will gain full exposure to the diverse types of work in DOC's Operations unit.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
