Job Description

Tourism New Zealand is working hard to ensure that tourism gives back more than it takes to New Zealand and its people.
We do this through promoting everything our beautiful country has to offer, supporting the New Zealand tourism industry and achieving high value tourism outcomes for the economy and New Zealand communities.
What will you be doing?
Tourism is a dynamic sector going through a period of significant change due to the impacts of Covid-19. This new role will serve as a key thought leader at Tourism New Zealand, leading TNZ's contributions to policy and strategy across government and the tourism sector for the long-term recovery and redevelopment of tourism in New Zealand.
This role will work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to develop policy contributions to central agencies, strategic advice and high-quality written material and research. It will represent Tourism New Zealand to a range of government and ministerial stakeholders, as well as the tourism sector.
The role reports to the GM NZ and Government Relations and will work with a high degree of autonomy to write papers, undertake research projects and develop a work programme to contribute to strategy and insights work across the agency.
What we want from you?
We need an experienced Principal Advisor with at least 10 years of policy experience within a government context. Tourism, economic development, Maori development, business and finance policy advice would be beneficial. You will have previous experience engaging with the tourism, aviation and transport industries or related sectors and you will have high quality networks across government.
We are a small team at TNZ, so we need a team player who can workcollaboratively across teams to get measurable results. Exceptionalcommunication skills (both written and verbal) will be required as you will need to develop and present a range of high-quality briefs, contribute to policy recommendations, and contribute to documents such as (Statement of Intent (SOI), Statement of Performance Expectations (SPE) and the Annual Report.
TNZ is a specialist marketing agency, and in this way, the role of Principal Advisor provides an opportunity for an exceptional thinker to provide advice in a unique creative context. If you are considered a thought leader, have an eye for detail, and can confidently support stakeholders then we are keen to hear from you.
Sound like you?
This is a great opportunity to own a new role in a team doing some innovative strategic work contributing to making New Zealand a better place.
Hono mai ki a matou (come join us!)
