Job Specification

Are you keen to do your bit to grow conservation? Are you good at leading a small highly effective team, planning, and multi-tasking? Do you know how to get others engaged and active in supporting conservation?
As a Supervisor Community, you will be a leader in a hard-working, passionate and focused Te Anau Operations team working on important conservation initiatives across the district.
You will be responsible for:
Leading and developing highly effective Community Rangers.
Delivering on statutory obligations such as processing applications for DOC concessions, assessment of effects and reporting on Resource Management Act (RMA) applications and statutory land administration.
iwi relationships; council relationships; statutory advocacy; RMA communication and events.
Effective weekly work planning; budgeting; and ensuring quality work delivery.
Being a constructive and engaged member of the District's Leadership Team.
Enacting the District Community Business Plan.
Leading a District team-wide approach to working with others for conservation growth and in doing so, ensuring effective relationships are fostered and deliver real conservation results.
Develop and support partnership opportunities with local iwi, businesses and the community to deliver value to conservation.
Support in developing volunteer conservation projects.
The ideal applicant will have:
Demonstrated experience or a natural passion in leading people.
Knowledge of people development and coaching.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Good understanding of Tikanga Maori.
Strong networking abilities, with positive working relationships across a broad range of groups.
Understand and be able to support the priorities of the Department.
This is a fulltime, fixed term role ending in March 2021.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
