Are you good at leading a small, highly effective team across Community and Biodiversity work programmes? Do you know how to get others engaged and active in supporting conservation?
As a Supervisor, Community, you will be a leader in a hard-working, passionate and focused Operations team working on important conservation initiatives around Coastal Otago. You will be working with Ngai Tahu, local government, communities and other groups within the Department of Conservation to plan and deliver conservation activities across our work programmes.
You will be responsible for:
Leading a team of five full-time staff to deliver work including resource management/concession, volunteer, education and engagement, visitor information, and freshwater conservation work programmes.
Working collaboratively with the Department's Treaty Partner Ngai Tahu and key stakeholders to foster effective relationships which deliver priority conservation outcomes
Working with the Senior Rangers to identify and prioritise the work programme and ensure delivery is on time and on-budget.
Being a constructive and engaged member of the District's Leadership Team providing support to the Operations Manager to deliver the District business plan.
To be successful in this position you will have:
Strong and proven team management and leadership skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Experience and knowledge of Te Reo and working with Tangata Whenua
Demonstrated ability and passion to develop and maintain relationships and work collaboratively with key stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes
Skills in coaching, training and supporting staff in the acquisition of technical knowledge
A tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in a related field
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organisation and coordination skills and experience
A high level of computer literacy.
A full New Zealand Driver's License
Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
